Some project highlights include continuous fresh air supply to ensure excellent indoor air quality, air-sealed apartments to improve comfort and reduce temperature stratification, exterior insulation at higher levels than required by code, and heating and cooling with water-to-water heat pumps.
Taitem provided energy consulting, energy modeling, testing and verification, commissioning, Aeroseal duct sealing, and NYSERDA and Energy Star program compliance.
Harold's Square
Harolds Square is a 180,000 SF building with 78 apartments in a twelve story tower in the heart of downtown Ithaca, New York. In addition to the 78 market-rate apartments, there approximately 70,000 square feet of Class-A office and retail space on the first four floors of the development. The project also included the rehabilitation of the historic Sage Building, a fixture on State Street since 1884.
The Harolds Square building was designed and built with a focus on sustainability, achieving tier-three NYSERDA certification: the Harolds Square building will use at least 40% less energy than a similarly code-built building.
