DEEP ENERGY RETROFIT RESEARCH
In 2015, Taitem completed “Optimized Strategy for Scaling Up Deep Energy Retrofit,” a NYSERDA-funded demonstration project. This project’s focus was developing a scalable, durable, and cost-effective approach for deep energy retrofits concentrating on envelope improvements.
Taitem led a team comprising a home performance contractor and other installers as well as a manufacturer of rigid polyisocyanurate insulation and other envelope components. Taitem’s role included developing the retrofit approach with subcontractors; conducting time and motion studies to optimize cutting and assembly of envelope components; field testing and monitoring; and post-installation M&V.
