SOUTHWORTH LIBRARY, DRYDEN, NY

In 2009 the historic Southworth Library auctioned off an original handwritten manuscript of Abraham Lincoln’s 1864 reelection address. The Lincoln Center addition was financed using a portion of the $3 million netted from the sale.

The existing library is a beautiful Romanesque style building that was designed by William Henry Miller in 1894 and is listed on the National Registry of historic Places. The addition is respectful of the original building and reflects the mass, size, roof pitches and style of the existing library.

Taitem provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural design services for the Lincoln Center addition to the library.
