MORRILL HALL – CORNELL UNIVERSITY

Morrill Hall, designed in the Second Empire style and completed in 1868, was the first building constructed on the Cornell University campus. The building retains its original roof configuration and material, including the original wood structure and decking.

The purpose of this project was to investigate, design, repair and replace the full roof system which includes a built-in gutter system with support framing, downspouts and storm drainage.

Taitem provided the architect with mechanical and electrical design for the new gutter snowmelt system. Our design engineers also supported the team on the engineering design for the removal and replacement of rooftop equipment.
