ELMIRA SAVINGS BANK – ITHACA, NY

Taitem provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design and construction phase services for the renovation and expansion of an existing two-story building located at 602 West State Street in Ithaca, NY.

The mechanical systems were designed to accommodate the banking corporation’s long-term sustainability plans. The owner is budgeting for future use of renewable energy, including solar panels. One of Elmira Savings Bank’s goals is to join the Ithaca 2030 District. The 2030 District is an interdisciplinary public-private collaborative working to create a high-performance building district in downtown Ithaca and actively contribute to Tompkins County’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050.

The project called for strong collaboration on several design aspects including coordination with the bank’s security vendor, enhanced lighting design, and special programming of the MEP systems that would accommodate different building use on the first and second floors of the building. The lead architect noted, “[Taitem’s work] was great and was integrated into the design seamlessly.”
