CHILDCARE CENTER – CORNELL UNIVERSITY

The Cornell Childcare Center is licensed to provide care to 180 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years. This single facility helps meet the university’s childcare needs and increases child care options for Cornell faculty, staff, and students. Informed by the research of early childhood experts, the approach of the program is child- and play-centered, tailored to the needs of individual children at their own developmental level, and includes attention to social connection, physical movement, music, art, and language. This approach directly informed the design of the new building.

Taitem Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural design for this new construction project. The energy-efficient design of the entire childcare center adhered to Cornell University’s sustainability standards.
