CITY GOVERNMENT FACILITIES – ITHACA, NY
Taitem Engineering provided engineering services for two groups of projects at five buildings which house City of Ithaca government operations.
Three backup generator systems were designed for City Hall, an 18,000 SF building in the heart of downtown; for Fire Station 6, a 9,600 SF building overlooking the Cayuga Lake inlet and Treman State Marine Park; and for the Department of Public Works (DPW), a 31,600 SF building adjacent to the City Golf Course.
The second group of projects involved the design of solar-thermal service hot water systems for two buildings. Taitem provided full design and construction administration for a large solar thermal evacuated tube system at Cass Park and a smaller solar thermal evacuated tube system at the Department of Public Works Building. These solar thermal systems tie directly to each building’s domestic hot water systems and reduced DHW energy consumption by over 80%.
