ALFANDRE ARCHITECTURE – NEW PALTZ, NY

This office building in the Hudson Valley is the home to Alfandre Architecture, Eco Builders, Inc., and a handful of other businesses. The building received LEED Platinum certification in 2015 and was third party verified by Taitem Engineering to be Net Zero Energy from opening in 2014. The building is now certified LEED Zero Energy and LEED Zero Water. The indoor working environment is markedly more productive and efficient due to enhanced indoor air quality, use of low VOC materials, and abundant daylight. The 5400 SF office building.

The project is a certified Net Zero Energy building and also meets Passive House standards. Through use of early blower door tests and thermographic analyses, the building was able to achieve an airtightness of 0.6 air changes per hour which is 5 times better than current energy code requirements.

Taitem services included analysis to confirm that this new commercial building is net-zero and consulting support to obtain net-zero verification by the New Buildings Institute. Taitem co-presented about the building at the New York State Green Building Conference and developed recommendations to eliminate fossil fuels in the building without triggering electric demand charges.
