On Monday, Dominick DeLucia and Javier E. Rosa, PE attended a geothermal training in Rochester that focused on water- to-water heat pumps. During a hands-on training demonstration, Dominick and Javier learned a new technique for fusing pipes. Jim Holahan is now a Certified Home Energy Professional (HEP). The four HEP certifications–Energy Auditor, Retrofit Installer Technician, Crew Leader and Quality Control Inspector–demonstrate advanced competency through work experience prerequisites, as well as rigorous written and field exams. These are the only home performance certifications that are both supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). A team of Taitem volunteers headed out to Second Wind Cottages in Newfield on Saturday to help build one of the six cottages for the homeless. The volunteer effort is being organized by local churches and has wide support in the community. http://ow.ly/i/3GNW1
