Energy

Taitem Engineering provides site-specific energy solutions, avoiding “cookie-cutter” analysis. We show the impact of non-energy costs, such as service and maintenance costs, and we develop realistic cost estimates for our clients. Our priority is  to recommend energy conservation measures that take into count real-world design constraints and tradeoffs.

We place a strong emphasis on providing readable reports, with full disclosure of technical calculations and assumptions. Our reports provide summaries that are accessible to nontechnical people who may need to read and interpret the reports. Our recommendations have a high success rate for implementation, and we believe this is a result of the realism that we bring to our energy evaluations and the clarity of our reports.

energy audits

Taitem Engineering conducts comprehensive energy studies for commercial, government, industrial, and not-for-profit buildings and vehicle fleets through several programs, including  NYSERDA’s FlexTech and Energy Audit programs. Ian Shapiro’s article on comprehensive energy audits was published in the January 2009 issue of  ASHRAE Journal.

measurement and verification

Taitem Engineering provides post-construction measurement and verification services. We maintain an inventory of instrumentation, including monitoring and logging devices, giving us the capability to assure our clients that their energy improvements are performing as designed.

quality assurance

Taitem Engineering is the quality assurance contractor for New York State’s multifamily building performance programs. In this role, Taitem provides technical assistance and expert review of over 50 consultants statewide.

training

Taitem Engineering’s expert staff provides training in all areas of energy services, including the energy audit process, energy code compliance, and quality assurance from energy assessment to design and construction. In January 2010, Taitem Engineering, partnering with Snug Planet, was named statewide contractor to provide training and technical assistance for NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal’s weatherization programs.
